Hi! Try a farmer's market for super fresh and affordable produce:

Kailua Village Farmer's Market: Flowers, produce, macnuts and coffee. Every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Across from Hale Halawai, Kailua-Kona.

Keauhou Farmer's Market: Every Saturday, from 8:00AM to noon at Keauhou Shopping Center, fronting Ace Hardware. All products are home grown in Hawaii - fruits, vegetables, flowers, coffee, macadamia nuts & more. Music too!

Kona International Market: Tuesday thru Sunday, from 9am to 5pm, at a large new open-air facility built specially for it near HPM in the Old Industrial Area on Luhia St. Flowers, fruits & vegetables, crafts, clothes, 'ukulele. Many area vendors have relocated here from other farmers markets around town.

South Kona Fruit Stand: Tropical fruits and plants near the old Higashi store, Mon-Sat, 9 am to 6 pm, Sun, "10ish" to 5pm; 84-4770 Mamalahoa Hwy. in Captain Cook. Info: 328-8547.

If you don't like farmer's markets, there's always good old Foodland:

Ask around in posh shops or reastuants or even Hotels to see which are the best reasturants on the beaches around there

Maby ring up a posh resturant with live music and ask them to play one of your mums/dads favourite songs? and book this a long time before this seremony...good luck

you may want to contact a few of the restaurants or tiki bars, etc on the beach in kona and ask if it is possible to reserve it for the night, or if they have a party room that you can reserve. some restaurants wil gladly reserve the restaurant on weeknights for a large crowd, when they know they will be spending large amounts on food and alcohol. or maybe find some venues on the beach that will allow a caterer...try consulting with a travel agent.

I just traveled by cruise but my favorite thing in Kona was going to the Kona Brewery. Great food and drinks. Worth checking out. I do think they have entertainment at night also.

Kona makes great bikes. The CoilAir is a good bike if you want FS, although I select the Supreme model which is about twice the cost of the base model. Specialized makes great bikes, and Treks tend to be more blase' in the mtb world

It depends on what your idea of night life is. It is nothing like Oahu. My wife and I travel to Kona quite often b/c of how calm and quiet it is there. Although there are some bars that are open late, mainly along Ali, drive enjoy.

In Kona town, there are several bars: Lulu's, Durty Jakes, Hard Rock Cafe, Huggos on the Rocks. I don't think the bars stay open late in Kona, only on Oahu do they close at 4am. You could just stroll up and down on Alii Drive and go bar hopping. There are even some bars and live music bars within the hotels, the best thing is to just stroll through the town. Have fun. Aloha

I think that Kona makes pretty good durable bikes. They don't have the big name as Specialized or Trek, and don't have the refinements of higher end but smaller companies as Santa Cruz, Turner or others.

I think that the coiler is a good bike, but I don't know your budget and what you want to do with your bike.
