Yep, you can switch frames if you want to.  Depending on what frame you choose, you may have an easy switch-over, or you may need to swap several parts.  Look for one that is the same style as what you have (xc, for example).  You&#039;re more likely to have a smooth transition if you do it that way. 

Up front, the seatpost is the most likely thing that you&#039;ll need to change unless the new frame just happens to have the same size.  Less commonly, you may need to change the front derailleur (or use clamp adaptors), the headset, the bottom bracket, and possibly the fork.  The fork depends on whether or not you have enough length on your old steerer tube to match up with the new frame&#039;s head tube length and your preferred stem setup (spacers, etc).   You&#039;ll more than likely need new brake and gear cable housing, too, but not always.
